My husband and I wanted to take some dance lessons for our wedding dance and he had purchased an introductory offer with Fred Astaire. After our first lesson, I was not impressed at all. Being ballet trained as a young girl, I knew that fundamentals needed to be taught first. Then we found Maks through a recommendation from a coworker. He was great from the get go! He taught us the importance of posture and frame. He asked us what style of dance we liked and if we wanted any specific steps to be incorporated. He was also very open to what worked and didn't work for us while choreographing our dance. He was patient and very thorough in teaching new steps. Our first dance came out better than expected! We enjoyed our time with Maks and my husband even said he wanted to learn more after our wedding!

Maksim has a profound ability to teach International Latin technique and steps. Not only that, he does so in a clear and methodical manner. He alters his lessons in accordance with the personal goals of each dancer, and challenges them as they become more advanced. His teaching style renders many "ah-ha!" moments, where a dancer can stop and say to themselves, "Yes, I get it!" Also, Maksim's friendly approach and patience put me at ease. It was truly a pleasure to have him as an instructor!

Maks is an amazing dance instructor! My husband and I came to Maks looking for a few moves to get us through our first dance at our wedding, and ended up with a beautifully choreographed ballroom number. He tailored the dance to our taste and to our skill level - making us look good even though we had absolutely no dance experience whatsoever. What's great about Maks is that he is patient at breaking down each move and can communicate to anyone, no matter their level or background. And he made it fun! He was very pleasant, passionate and patient as an instructor, accommodating our crazy schedule and running around town with us, holding lessons at various studios around manhattan for our convenience. As a competitive collegiate ballroom dancer, Maks is one of the best instructors I know. I've taken lessons from various ballroom instructors the past couple of years, but Maks is the one person I always come back to. Ever since my first lesson with him, he's known all of my partner's and my weaknesses, and continues to push us to work on them. Every lesson is a lesson well spent, as it continuously builds off of the previous ones. His lessons are very good at not just improving your technique, but how to make your dancing overall more dynamic, as well as how to better get a judge's attention. As a senior member of his Alma mater, the Binghamton Ballroom Dance team, I'm proud to say that he's the reason that our team is the strong competitive team that we are today.

I say all the time: If I ever move to NYC, one of the things I most definitely will do is sign up for Ballroom lessons with Maks. Maks and I both joined the Binghamton Ballroom Dance Team back in the fall of 2002 and while I was a bit of a newcomer, Maks had already been dancing competitively (and winning!) for years. As a dancer, he and his partner HaVi were definitely the stars of our team. As a teacher, Maks was and is kind and supportive, with a knack for getting concepts across in a clear and comprehensive manner - all qualities essential to being a good teacher.

Maks is also generous with his time, having returned to campus in the years since he has left to help nurture the current Team with workshops, and in sharing memories of how things were back in our day. This helps not only to foster links among the multiple incarnations of the Team; but also serves to motivate the current group into keeping a good thing going. Ah, motivation - another key word associated with Maks, who manages to inspire you to become the best dancer you can be.

All in all, with Maks you will get quality instruction at a price you can afford - you get to keep your arm and your leg. Which is a good thing, since you're going to need them for dancing!
